Our mission is to develop engaging educational programs that inspire growth, build confidence, and create brighter futures for young families.
Community Link, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing a wide range of educational opportunities for young parents. Our vision is to empower young parents to build stable, fulfilling lives through comprehensive support and educational programs in health, life skills, workforce readiness, and social-emotional learning.
We believe that education is the foundation for a brighter future, and our mission is to create engaging educational programs that inspire growth. Through hands-on service learning, we offer participants the chance to explore and discover their individual strengths and abilities while building skills that will serve them for a lifetime.
Our programs are designed not only to address immediate needs but also to create long-term solutions that enrich the lives of individuals. Whether it’s through equipping young parents with completing their GED/ HSED, acquire workforce skills, or early childhood development, we strive to make a lasting impact.
At Community Link, every individual’s journey matters, and we are here to guide and support them in unlocking their potential and creating a pathway to success. Together, we are building stronger communities and brighter futures.
The “A Day in Their Shoes” campaign was developed as a response to the growing need for awareness and actionable solutions for young parents navigating immense challenges. Community Link recognized that many young parents face systemic barriers such as a lack of access to affordable childcare, job opportunities, housing stability, and emotional support. These barriers often perpetuate cycles of poverty and leave young parents struggling to create a better future for themselves and their children.
Through research and conversations with young parents in underserved communities, we found that their stories were often untold, their struggles overlooked, and their resilience underestimated. This program was created to bridge that gap by shining a spotlight on the real-life challenges young parents face while offering a pathway to empowerment and support.
Jasmine is a 19-year-old mother navigating grief, responsibility, and hope. Six months ago, her best friend and closest confidant died by suicide, leaving her struggling to find the motivation to move forward. She dreams of providing a stable life for her child but feels overwhelmed by the challenges of parenting alone. As a high school dropout, finding suitable employment has been even more difficult for Jasmine. Living with her cousin and her cousin’s two children in a small, overcrowded one-bedroom apartment, she is stuck caring for her cousin’s kids while her cousin works to maintain a roof over their heads.
Adding to her struggles, Jasmine’s W-2 benefits recently ended, creating even more financial stress. Despite feeling trapped, Jasmine remains determined to find a way forward.
Tiana is an 18-year-old mother living in a shelter with her 3-month-old daughter. After aging out of foster care, Tiana found herself without a stable place to call home. Her days are consumed with finding ways to care for her baby, navigating social services, and searching for safe housing.
Tiana dreams of becoming a nurse. She has a natural talent for caring for others, but with no family to rely on and no access to affordable childcare, pursuing her education feels impossible. Most nights, she lies awake, worrying about how she’ll provide for her 3 month old daughter..
Marcus is a 21-year-old father who has faced more challenges than most his age. Growing up, his mother struggled with drug addiction, leaving Marcus to care for himself and his younger siblings. At just 16, he dropped out of high school to take on responsibilities no teenager should have to face.
Now, as a single father to his two-year-old son, Marcus is determined to break the cycle. He works part-time to provide for his child, but without a high school diploma or stable childcare, he struggles to move forward. Marcus hopes to be able to create a better life for his son, a life filled with stability, and opportunity.
